 Week 1


gesture (n) : A movement of part of the body, esp. a hand or the head, to express an idea or meaning.

pattern (n): A repeated decorative design.

executive (adj): Having the power to put plans, actions, or laws into effect.

venture capitalist (n): a speculator who makes money available for innovative projects (especially in high technology).

crest (v): Reach the top of



Week 2

behemoth (n);
  1. A huge or monstrous creature.
  2. Something enormous, esp. a big and powerful organization.
relevant (adj): Closely connected or appropriate to the matter at hand.

tumultuous (adj) :
  1. Making a loud, confused noise; uproarious: "tumultuous applause".
  2. Excited, confused, or disorderly.
reign (n): A period of remorseless repression or bloodshed, in particular (Reign of Terror), the period of the Terror during the French Revolution.

pursue (v): Follow (someone or something) to catch or attack them.



Week 3

harnessing(v): to tie together 
pseudonym(n): : a fictitious name
verboten (adj): forbidden
anonymous (adj): unknown authorship or origin 
endorsement(n): the act or process of acknowledging 



Week 4
presumably(adv) : Used to convey that what is asserted is very likely though not known for certain.
villain(n): A person guilty or capable of a crime or wickedness.
prototype(n): A first or preliminary model of something, esp. a machine, from which other forms are developed or copied.

obstacles(n): A thing that blocks one's way or prevents or hinders progress
constraint (n): A limitation or restriction.




Week 5
squabble(v) Quarrel noisily over a trivial matter.
tended (v)
  1. Regularly or frequently behave in a particular way or have a certain characteristic: "written language tends to be formal".
  2. Care for or look after; give one's attention to: "Viola tended plants on the roof"; "for two or three months he tended to business".
vague (adj) uncertain, indefinite, or unclear character or meaning
committal (n)
  1. The action of sending a person to an institution, esp. prison or a psychiatric hospital.
  2. The burial of a corpse.
startled (adj) Cause (a person or animal) to feel sudden shock or alarm: "a sudden sound in the doorway startled her".




Week 6

premise (n): A previous statement or proposition from which another is inferred or follows as a conclusion.
explicitly(adj) Fully and clearly expressed; leaving nothing implied.
privilege (n) right, due 
involve(v) draw in; include
